Coaching Feedback and Engagement

Suzanne has been a great coach! She has been helpful with reminders about upcoming due dates and has been quick to respond to questions and provide feedback through e-mail. When I sent her my frame draft she was very encouraging and positive in her response.

Coaching Feedback

My coach, Denise Sprinkle, has evaluated numerous FRAMES my students and I have created using a feedback form. I then used this form to better future FRAMES.  She always emphasizes the importance of using the routine with fidelity.  This coach, though required now, has been an ongoing process since August, 2005.  Denise has come into my classroom to watch me use the routine with my students too many times to count.  She, as well as my current and previous principals, have observed and kept record of when I have used the FRAME in my classroom.  Those this is not specifically monitored and recorded in my building now, it is an expected routine we must use when appropriate.

My coach gave great suggestions.

My coach gave great suggestions.  The first suggestion was that the deadline for completing this activity was quickly approaching and that I needed to act on it.   I always appreciate reminders so I did as I was told. :)  Later, the second suggestion was adding visuals to the frame routine which I could have added on with the students' discussion or embed in the pre-printed frame to help generate discussion.  We choose the latter deciding that some of our students would appreciate not having to draw two number lines in that little space. Suzanne Graham has been very accessible by email and always responds quickly.

Several Ways of Communicating

Janie Brown was our coach.  We have communicated with her in several different formats.  Our most used form of communication was e-mail.  We started e-mail back in October.  She told us a little about herself and her teaching and we got to do the same.  To begin our experience, we had a conference call that was so beneficial since it helped us to understand all the components of our badge.  We sent examples of lesson plans and frames that we have already done.  She offered suggestions and feedback informally on the ones we had done so we could fine tune our technique.  We sent our formal frame to her and then we video ourselves. We sent them to her for our formal feedback.   Continuing through e-mail, she checked in with us again to make sure we completing and uploading the evidence.

Engage with our coach Lisa Adkins

Lisa Adkins is our coach. Dana (I) began with another coach Mori Pace. My partner Brian Teucke and I have communicated with Lisa Adkins via email.  We began e-mailing October 27, 2017.  We have sent examples of lesson plans and samples of both LINCing and FRAMES that we have already done in class.   We just completed our video and will be forwarding it to Lisa shortly for her to review. Lisa regularly checked in with us again to make sure we completing and uploading the evidence.
