Summary of Implementation - Word Mapping

I used Word Mapping with five of my ninth grade reading classes and one 11th/12th grade reading class, about 120 students total.  These classes were mixed ESE and regular ed students, all struggling readers with the goal of passing FSA to graduate.  After giving a pre test, word mapping was used every other day from September through November, 40 minutes at a time.  Word mapping lessons worked well with our 45 minute class schedule.  Attendance issues were the only problems, when a student missed a lesson, they needed extra time to get caught up.  I displayed many review charts around the room to help with missed lessons.  You can find a copy of my Student Outcome Data in the Live Binder.  I received feedback from my SIM specialist, Janet Atallah, an number of times, before, during and after word mapping.  Also, in the Live Binder you will find a copy of our September Coaching Log.
