Socially Wise - Day 1

This afternoon we had the opportunity to explore Socially Wise. This is a computer-generated program that provides instruction in social skills. (Critical Feedback, Coping with No, Accepting Advice, Negotiation, Apologizing, Involving Others, Responding to Peer Pressure, Feedback to Peers, and Designing Your own Skill) Each targeted area provides explicit instruction, opportunities to observe scenarios. and practice skills. Each section has acronyms to help students remember key points when responding to the targeting topic.
Each lesson has six sections:
  • learn it
  • save it
  • see it
  • quiz it
  • practice it
  • live it

Socially Wise - Day 1

I participated in a jigsaw activity where each member viewed a lesson within the socially wise program. Then as a group we designed a skill lesson for confronting a bully.

I participated in a jig saw on the apologizing lesson. I completed the online lesson then shared out with my family table the big picture.

Socially Wise Reflection

On 4.24.18, at PaTTAN-Harrisburg, we had the opportunity to review and manipulate targeted social skills within the Socially Wise Social Skills program to be targeted for middle school participants.  My targeted social skill area was Accepting Advice, and being able to understand the components and benefits of SEE-WISE. Our group was impressed again with the routines, method to learn the content, method to practice and method to save the content, as well as also being able to have options for reviewing the content, should the skill be addressed or needed to be addressed at a later point (our group was discussing ways to account for generalization of skills also).
