3. Portfolio of Implementation

Create a portfolio of your instruction in which you:
  1. Describe the group or student (size of group, level, student characteristics, etc.)
  2. Describe the length of implementation (weeks or months, amount of time per day, days per week)
  3. Submit student progress chart(s) without student names.
  4. Submit a narrative log of your implementation experiences (what went well and/or poorly, adjustments made if necessary, ideas generated for issues encountered,  and impact.)
  5. Submit a narrative describing coaching, feedback, and follow up, identifying your coach.
You may chose to type the log here or to post from a different source.
To post documents, files, pdf's:
Upload  using a file sharing app (such as Dropbox, Google Drive or something simpler like File Dropper)
Copy the public URL of your uploaded file to your clipboard
Paste the URL into the body of the requirements page or evidence post.  When you hit save the URL will automatically be turned into a link.
It's useful to then click on the link and make sure everything works as desired.

Portfolio

There were 5 students in my group. Students are all eligible for special education under classifications of a Specific Learning Disability or Other Health Impairment with weaknesses noted in writing and reading. The strategy began in January 2019 and concluded in May 2019. During a typical week we spent 30 minutes per day 3 times per week. 

The experience with implementing fundamentals was positive. The students had a positive outlook on their writing progress and I enjoyed teaching the students and following their progress. I do not think with this group of students and the limited time I was given to teach the strategy I would have changed anything within the group. I would in the future like to have more consistency of days and allotted time, just for more of a routine with instruction. In speaking with the students at the conclusion, it was overall felt their writing has shown improvement. I can concur with this as students are more fluent with identifying the parts of their sentences.

Susan was an excellent coach. She provided coaching in person, via phone and email. She had great feedback and worked with me to tailor my instruction to meet the needs of my students and the time constraints I had during some weeks.

Learning Strategies Implementation Log:


Setting: Odell Elementary; small group resource classroom. Characteristics of student: 4th grader, Eligibility in Exceptional Children Program~Other Health Impaired (OHI). Student's age 10 years old, academic levels include writing skills in first grade, math skills in 3rd grade, and reading skills in first grade. Student has much more to express than what he can write. Furthermore, his legibility is very difficult to read. Student have attentional deficits which significantly impact his academics across all settings. He also has low self-esteem and his General Education Teachers can be at risk to under-challenge him because of his writing. This student was chosen because he had a drastic difference verbal comprehension than in written expression and is a smart student. He has the cognitive ability to be challenged with grade level curriculum by  an auditory pathway but does need specialized instruction in the resource classroom.The student was in the Fundamentals in the Sentence Writing program from August 2017-May 2018. He had small group instruction for 4 days @ 30 minutes.
