I spoke with a representative from Heifer International to discuss ideas for helping students connect with those in need around the world.

At the exhibit hall, I met with a representative from Heifer International (https://www.heifer.org/), which is a global organization focused on on helping local communities in countries around the world find solutions to end poverty. The organization offers lots of free curriculum resources and even though I am still working on my school librarian degree, we discussed ideas and programs I could use in a future elementary media program.

Gale visit

Our county subscribes to Gale and I never really knew how to use some of the features. I sat down with someone from Gale who helped me on how to help my students search their database and books.

NewseumED

I visit the NewseumED exhibitor booth after attending the concurrent session - Literacy: Information, Digital, News, Media... Same S#!@, Different Day! I was inspired by the resources and curriculum available. After visiting the exhibitor booth Newseum will be mailing materials and posters to my school.

I visited with Girls Who Code! Bringing coding to girls for free!

I am excited to be partnering with Girls Who Code upon my return to Samuel Slater Middle School. We are a school in crisis and I am thrilled to be able to bring advanced technologies to the girls in my building. Hopefully, I will be able to encourage other schools both within my district as well as without to join in this fantastic opportunity!
