Student Tech Conference

The Student Tech Conference was awesome!  This has been my first Student Tech Conference, and I plan to attend it every year after.  I learned about Hackathons and the importance of interacting with other coders with Mamadou Diallo.  I learned about the benefits of using Snapchat in schools for extra activities, homework, and student interaction.  I listened to a presentation on the basics of starting a not-for-profit business with the creators of On a Roll.  I was told about a software called Celtx and then learned how to write a script with it; I was taught how to make a movie with iMovie and Adobe Premier Pro.  I learned about the opportunities available in extracurricular activities and how to balance them with your everyday life while also learning soft and hard skills.   I listened to a presentation by Victoria Constant and Brigitte Harbers on the prospect of teaching young girls how to program with Scratch and learned the simplicity Scratch gives to complex programing concepts.  I learned about 1:1 (one on one) schools and how they teach students by mainly using only technology instead of textbooks.  Finally, I learned the importance of teaching technological literacy at a young age by introducing hardware, software, and programming to a child as early as possible.
