Quick to learn strategy, working to keep it engaging

The teacher implemented in a high school English course with a large number of struggling students.  Many students took this strategy and applied it almost immediately, but they complained about the words not applying to what they were studying.  We created lists of English content words and student engagement improved.  Most of the coaching initially centered on basic components and responding to unexpected student responses, and then later coaching focused on adapting the model to increase student participation and engagement, as well as generalize the strategy to other courses.

Successes and Challenges

What were the successes?
the strategy worked for most of the students. 15/17 showed mastery at 80% on the assessments.  For the Player set #1, the group showed mastery at 72.5%. If we remove one class with 3 students, the remaining group showed mastery at 80%.

What were the challenges?
We had 2 students who failed to improve through the first few tests.Even after 3rd test, three girls in one class are not showing the growth like others.

How did the two of you problem solve issues? Unfortunately, we haven’t shown any improvement with the two students. We decided to reduce the amount of words.  Hope to see improvements.
