Coaching Feedback

I have found the feedback from Diane to be very helpful.  In particular, Diane pointed out something that I did not catch in my own review of my lesson.  Rather than saying LINCS Table, I used the words LINCING Table.  I did not hear my own error because I didn't realize that this subtle change in vocabulary could cause confusion to teachers/students.  I am much more aware of using the exact terminology and why it is important.

Her feedback also made me realize the true power of coaching. I was just meeting with some colleagues and we were discussing how to go about coaching teachers through a new routine. One colleague mentioned that the teachers could video tape themselves and go through the fidelity checklist to see if they were doing things properly.  I added that in addition to this step, it is important to have one of the coaches or another teacher view the video as well. Sometimes, we don't hear or pick up on our own errors, but someone else might.

I find this component to be helpful in guiding my practice with the routines.
