My professional development session was held on February 1, 2018.

I provide PD to teachers and this is a great tool for organizing content information in a meaningful way. I hope to be able to model this strategy and its effectiveness so that teachers will see the benefit of learning and using it in their own classrooms.

The date of this initial training was 4/25/18 at PaTTAN Harrisburg by Patty Graner and Diane Gilliam.

This is a recap of a previously submitted reflection that was deleted by Badgelist and possible user error :-).

I particularly liked the training we received for the CER, The Framing Routine.  Already versed in Cornell 2 column note techniques, I can see that the FRAME goes a step further to support students who struggle with executive functioning by providing a variety of visual formats to organize the main idea(s) and details into succinct elements for better comprehension and written responses.  FRAME can also be used more creatively to help build a cognitive schema of a variety of types of information both fiction and non-fiction including directions, timelines, organizational charts, movie synopsis and more.  After the initial training I was able to FRAME preparation for my organization's annual conference independently.

Framing routine training June 19, 2018 Richmond, VA

I was trained in using the framing routine at this session.  I chose to use the example of reviewing decimal places in this frame.  It lent itself very well to organizing the three place values taught and the various ways they can be written.  I can see this tool will be useful in other math content reviews and also in introducing content with many categories such as the characteristics of quadrilaterals
