I chose to construct this frame with my students because it was easier for my students to understand. As the routine becomes more natural, more complex frames can be used.

The Go and Win method was used and successful.

I successfully used this routine with my first graders. We compared two stories about sharing. The students were not able to complete a frame themselves because they are too young and it was not developmentally appropriate for them. However they helped me complete my frame. I cued the students to attend to the frame and reminded them of the understanding of using the frame. We implemented the framing steps and talked about the frame as it was constructed. The students win by showing understanding of the overall concept of both stories.

We will use this with our Interactive Notebook as a review at the end of each concept.

Use of Frame

My Co-Teaching partner and I have successfully used the Frame in all content areas with our second graders. They are allowed to use their Frames for future references and as a study guide.  We enjoy the flexibility of the device.  It is especially beneficial for our students with disabilities because it pinpoints the main ideas of each concept that we want our students to learn.
