Study Groups bring together DLC members throughout the year to discuss topics related to digital literacies. Study groups are facilitated by a DLC member and are organized around the discussion of a particular text that members read prior to the study group meeting. Meetings are conducted over video chat through Google Hangouts, and are often recorded via Hangouts on Air.
The leader of the discussion selects a text for study, organizes and publicizes the study group meeting, structures and facilitates the study group discussion, and reflects on the conversation by writing sharing a post on the DLC blog:

Given the time required to prepare and facilitate a study group, this represents at least 4 hours of professional development.
