Design

I learned of a website to find ideas for images when designing badges.  This is the last piece of the puzzle I needed to move forward with finalizing my pilot program for next year.  I am now going to meet with a colleague for input and then take my findings to my badge designer.

Badges need to be competency/skills based.

Badges will gather more meaning when they carry weight and value. Loved what CCCS and UC are doing with courses/badges for credit. Interesting how industry is looking for skills (badges) in FB and LinkedIn. Will try to apply this to our staff PD development.

So much to learn! We'll be exploring which backpack we use with student badges & how to best launch our community badges.

For the backpack, we're looking seriously at either the Badge Alliance's solution or the Open Badge Passport created by Discendum -- lots of great open source work from these folks.

Loved hearing of the specifics of the Chicago Summer/City of Learning journey. We're hoping to launch a County of Learning in our area.

Finally, we are about to implement Canvas LMS and are looking forward to integrated our badging within that platform.
