Reflection and Evaluation

I felt I was able to help improve student experience greatly during my time as an English Year 1 course rep. By regularly communicating with my peers and voicing their concerns in the SSLCs, as well as reporting back to them what was discussed in the SSLC to improve the issue, I feel I was able to implement positive change within the English programme. I have now recently been elected as an English Year 2 course rep and I would like to continue to help improve and make changes when necessary within the department by continuing to try and make contact with more students this year. It can be quite difficult to make yourself known to everyone as there are lots of people on the course, and I plan on improving upon that this time around by continuing to communicate regularly within the Facebook and WhatsApp groups for Year 2 English Students and posting forms before SSLCs that allow students to anonymously submit their concerns to be discussed in the SSLCs.

Great experience! Learned a lot!

During this year, we achieved all aims and goals: supported fellow students, organised social events, rised their questions at the meetings and implemented changes into the programme. We recieved a great feadback from students and faculty about our work. I have reflected about this experience and looking forward to use new skills and knowledge in my future roles. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to contribute.

How facebook group helped!

The MSc Project management 18/19 facebook group help to facilitate conversation between coursemates. It proved as a platform for students to exchange their views, promote their ideas, get information about events, socials and lot more!

It is very glad to be a course representative, perhaps next time I would be able to talk to all of our colleagues.

What went well: Not only reporting feedback to SSLC meeting, but we also collected constructive feedback and sent them to each professor. We hoped that this feedback can really make changes in the following years.

What didn't go well: We had more than 60 students in our programme, it is a shame that I didn't have the chance to talk to all of them. I hope I can talk to most of them and encourage more people to fill in the survey.

What would I recommend is done differently next time: I will make a difference next time by communicating with lecturers first to see if they can address the problem. If they can't or come across some problem, I will report them to SSLC.

What did I learn from this: learning and responding are very important for being a course rep. Being a good listener can effectively understand students' concern, and being a quick response can help the problem get addressed quickly.
