Trained on Jan. 20 and March 3, 2022

I received training with the Word Mapping Strategy on Jan. 20, 2022 by Mary Stowe.  This is the first SIM Learning Strategy I've been introduced to since I've become a Specialist in sever SIM Content Enhancement Routines.  I appreciate the easy connections between the Vocabulary LINCing Routine, which I'm a Specialist, and the Word Mapping Strategy.

. The virtual session during the SIM in the Southeast Conference was great!

I received face to face instruction in Word Mapping several years ago. I have worked with another professional developer in presenting this strategy to teachers a few times. Doing the virtual course during this conference was just what I needed to, not only review, but to learn some different ways to present this one.
The examples given were very helpful. the presenters were refreshing to hear and easy to follow- and we all know that virtual presentation are difficult!

Kim Terrell Word Mapping I watched this session on 2.25.22.

I really enjoyed this session. The presenters, The presenters, Bonnie Palasak, Rosemary Tralli, Kimberlee Oakes, and  Monica Harris did a wonderful job. I am a current SIM Learning Strategies professional developer, and have trained several strategies. However, Word Mapping is not one that I have trained yet. It was very beneficial going through the four lessons of the program in detail. I feel much more comfortable with this training now.

Word Mapping Course

I initially learned the Word Mapping Strategy with Ann and Conn in Lawrence, Kansas some summers ago. Since then,  have used the strategy with students twice. For the Montana SIM Initiative project, I refreshed my learning by participating in on on-line training with Rosemary Tralli and Bonnie Pasalak on June 29th and July 1st. I am assigned with coaching one of the participants who will be teaching the strategy for the first time this coming semester and who will simultaneously be earning her PD badge for Word Mapping as she coaches a teacher in learning the strategy. The goal is to do so within the time-frame of the 2021 Fall Semester.

Attended Thursday, July 15

The presentation by Monica, Bonnie, Rosemary, and Kimberlee was wonderful.  I love this strategy and if I were in the classroom, I would use!  I would like to plan to earn a badge in order to share with teachers in my district!
