Kaleidoscope/Poster session

The Kaleidoscope included a book review on Thanks for the Feedback, a report on strategy instruction in northwest Iowa, and data on Fusion reading. The book contained information on giving and receiving feedback. Strategies are going strong at Prairie Lakes AEA.  The data for Fusion was great!

GIST & Content Enhancement and Course Design.

These sessions were both very exciting.  The new Gist program looks awesome, and I'm excited to use it.  Thanks for all the hard work with the revisions.

The comments made during CE & course design were interesting, and I think it would be a good direction to move in.  This reminded me about how we tell teachers when using the Assignment Completion strategy not to wait for Advance Practice to start working with a real planner and assignments, but to try using it in real life as soon as your ready and comfortable.

thanks

Content Enhancement and Course Design

I'm very interested in what Keith Lenz is proposing.  I just wonder if teachers will do this work, as good as it seems to be.  I'll be anxiously awaiting what happens with this in Florida.

Xtreme Reading seems to be a lot like Fusion with some of the same manuals. Example: Possible Selves.

Xtreme Reading seems to be a lot like Fusion with some of the same manuals. Example: Possible Selves. I see a difference between the two, but also similarities. I like that they both use the Course Map to outline what is in each manual.  I also think it's important for students to be using highly engaging literature and Xtreme seems to do that.

Interactive Session Based on Richard Culatta's Keynote

LOVED THIS SESSION!
Patty, thanks for the way you set up this session.  I liked that fact that we met with our 'like' party and then we broke out into groups.  Great discussion.  Loved the knowledge shared by all!  THANKS GROUP!!

I liked having time and support to learn this system and the reasoning behind it.

Richard Culatta's talk on trends made us think and talk about real issues in our educational settings... challenges and hopeful progress.

break out session comments on Richard Culatta's key note

I really enjoyed the breakout session on Richard Culatta's keynote. Really interesting to see the good and bad about 1:1 mobile tech learning.

Block Party!

I enjoyed this variant on a traditional jigsaw. It gave us the opportunity to preview information on our own time prior to the conference (Richard Culatta's Keynote on 6 trends to bring about transformation through use of technology in education), move about the room, and engage in conversations with a number of different participants with different backgrounds and experiences to share. This activity provided a good amount of structure for a fairly large group, but also the flexibility to speak from personal experience, ask relevant questions, and tailor discussion to specific areas of interest. We modeled some of Culatta's ideas by making the learning mobile, sharing/ opening resources among colleagues, providing and receiving immediate feedback through meaningful conversation, and personalizing the learning experience!

Intro session to the Iowa SIM update included a rollercoaster feature.

Tim shared a video on with us this morning that we could ride a roller coaster in the  Des Moines, Iowa area.  I probably will pass on that thrilling opportunity.
