New! Theme Writing: Informative Writing

This session was excellent!  I learned about the newly released manual for Theme Writing, and I am cannot wait to take it back to Virginia to share with other professional developers and discuss how we may implement with schools.  I love how teacher and student resources have been added to a website to help minimize the size of the manual.

CERS and State Standards

The session on CERs and State Standards was so informative. I loved the interactive activities and being able to share ideas with a partner. Thank you for the matrix. I cannot wait to explore it further. Great session.

Patty shared the history of how micro-credentials became a part of SIM and the levels of badges available: PL, FI, SP.

Badges are now available at 3 levels. There is one for participant level (professional learning). Cost is $10. The next level in the stack is Fidelity. This level requires more than seat time (partner with active PDer, evidence of teaching with SIM tool, implementation portfolio, etc). Cost is $40. The last layer of the stack is Specialist. This level involves much more including providing instruction in a SIM tool. This level mirrors the PPDer process, just limited to a specific tool. Cost is $100.

Micro credentials session is very informative, explaining the background and history behind the work.

Patty described in detail the three levels: professional learning, fidelity of implementation, and specialist! We went into detail and had great conversations about what evidence is required in each level!
