Reflection

Working through the FAQ's helped me feel much more prepared for working with teachers and districts using the CE routines. I thought it was such a good exercise. It showed me instantly what I knew without doing any research, and what areas I needed to study more to be confident that I could answer questions regarding SIM and the CE routines.

Reflection

Through researching the literature and other sources of information that address these questions, I feel I have gained a rather broad and deeper understanding of and appreciation for the development of CERs. I had long known what the potential impact on learning could be, especially for students who were struggling, but this activity reinforced my conviction that implementation with fidelity is crucial to the effectiveness of utilizing CERs in the classroom. and that ongoing coaching support is vital as well.

Reflection on FAQ's Assignment

This assignment was definitely helpful to me in considering questions and concerns that teachers who are interested in learning about SIM might have regarding Content Enhancement Routines.  It was a great opportunity to synthesize learning from my own classroom experience, the VaLI apprenticeship conference, a variety of readings over the years, and much more.  Not only did it help me to learn some additional information, but it also revealed to me just how much knowledge and experience I have been privileged to gather throughout my years of using SIM in my own classroom.  As a result of this task, I feel very confident in the face of any worry or resistance that might arise as I try to present Content Enhancement Routines to others in the future.
