7. Engage with SIM Professional Developer

Feedback was very good.  She did recommend that I revisit the "Review" again comparing similarities and differences before teaching it to classes next year.

In reviewing the feedback provided by Whitney Miller, my co-teacher and I were not able to have the students give input on the summary sentence due to time constraints. For the next use of this routine, we will be sure to have the students offer their ideas in helping to create that summary piece. She noted that she liked the use of the Active Board and how we used a different color for each section. We will be sure to do the same with future Concept Comparison Routines.

Judith and I have emailed several times and she gave me feedback via the visual checklist twice. In addition, I sent her two different videos of classes I was teaching.  

Lisa Adkins reached out to me several times this year and asked if I needed any assistance. I don't feel like I need any assistance at this time and so I have not reached out for feedback.

Helen has been very helpful in her coaching and feedback. I felt comfortable with the routine after the initial training, especially being able to brainstorm ways to use this routine in my classroom. Her feedback from my recorded lesson was useful and I was able to improve in my use of the routine. 

Jocelyn Washburn provided feedback to me on December 5, 2018.  She noted that I could consider changing the summary on my draft so that all of the similarities were noted first and the differences were noted at the end.   Also she provided ideas about extension activities for going beyond the basics by having students complete a task or answer a higher level thinking question by using their table.  Based on the feedback, I recreated the draft, co-constructed with students, and debriefed with Jocelyn afterwards.

Today, Joan and I had a coaching session with Patty via Zoom. We pulled together our plan of action for between now and March where we will hold another coaching session. We got questions answered and feel like we are well on our way to earning our fidelity badges. We discussed making sure that comparison routines should be done on two topics that the developer knows well and that provides accurate information.
